Talon Karrde's smuggling fleet on MYrkr included two Skipray Blastboats, although both ships were destroyed after Luke Skywalker and Mara Jade crashed them in the heart of Myrkr's dense forests.

When the Empire chose not to purchase the GAT-12h Skipray in large quanities, Sienar Fleet systems began to sell the ships on the open market, so many can be found in the corporate, mercenary, pirate, and smuggler fleets. It's most significant additions were larger ammunition bays for the proton-torpedo and concussion-missle launchers, increasing the capacity to twelve torpedoes and eighteen missiles respectively. The 12h was released shortly before the destruction of the first Death Star, while the 12j upgrade was released only weeks after the death of Emperor Palpatine. Th most prominent line of blasboat is the Sienar Fleet Systems GAT series, which includes the 12h, the 12i, and the 12j models. They are larger and far more powerful than starfighters but are small enough to be carried aboard capital ships. Pirate and smuggler fleets, which gained access to the design in large numbers, do not have the same limited availability.Blastboats are assault gunships that were used by the Empire. Therefore in Imperial fleets they are Limited Availability. Note that the Skipray Blastboat was never fully accepted in the Imperial Navy due to their reliance on attrition fighter concepts, despite the glowing reviews given to them. The first GAT-12h Skipray Blastboats were released prior to the Battle of Yavin, and proved to be a reliable ship which saw use in Outer Rim planetary patrol forces and smuggling fleets for many years. The Sienar Fleet Systems GAT-12 Skipray Blastboat was, early in the Galactic Civil War, the smallest hyperspace-capable starship in use by the Imperial Navy.
